Yohji Yamamoto has been delivering his take on footwear through the Adidas Y-3 For Sale imprint for over two decades. And while the Japanese designer hasn’t necessarily garnered the mainstream attention of some of the Three Stripes’ collaborators, he’s continuously pushed the boundaries of what sportswear-originated shoes can be. Adidas Y-3 Women label’s Osiran silhouette continues the trend, having recently appeared in a cream-like colorway.
Though it may lack the Superstar‘s most significant feature, the Adidas Y-3 Cheap is still very obviously inspired by the shoe’s design. And with it’s next two appearances, that connection becomes even more apparent as they borrow from the shell toe’s original colorways.
Not all is totally faithful, though. The sole, specifically, proffers a two-piece platform whose lower half tints a deep yellow. This is shared by the black and white colorways alike, both of which are built out of a premium leather that’s tumbled much more than your average Superstar. Then, the Adidas Y-3 Men stamp of quality hits the heel, branding alongside the insole’s subtler text.
